Highlights of Skye Tour: Experience the BEST of Skye!

Why Choose Our Skye Tour?

Quiraing on Skye TourAt Misty Isle Tours we understand that many people want a Skye Tour, but only have a short time available to see the Isle of Skye. In an ideal world we would tell you to spend at least a week exploring Skye and we can guarantee you would still want to come back! However, that often isn’t possible! So you will want to see as many of the island’s highlights as possible and to experience as much of Highland life and culture as possible.

Don’t worry – we have the perfect solution for you! At Misty Isle Tours we have combined our local knowledge, gleaned from growing up on the Isle of Skye, with a long background in tourism on Skye. And we have managed to cram an incredible Skye tour into a single, unforgettable day! As you look through the Skye Highlights Tour Itinerary (below) you will no doubt recognise many well-known scenic locations, some of which are very hard to reach without the help of a local guide. On top of the wonderful destinations and attractions listed below you will also enjoy Stuart’s onboard story-telling. At the end of your day you will leave with un understanding of Skye’s people, history, culture, myths & legends and with a longing to come back to explore further all that the island has to offer!

Some feedback from our tours:

Dunvegan Castle on Skye Tour“Last week our family of 12 had an amazing tour on the Isle of Skye led by Stuart Mackinnon of Misty Isle Tours. Stuart is very knowledgeable of the locales, and does great job explaining the sites. He is very customer-service oriented… Everyone on our trip – from age 14 to 82 – thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and said it was at the top of the list of excursions during our cruise. Our family gives Stuart and his company Misty Isle Tours a 5-star rating for a fabulous tour of the Isle of Skye.” Alex M from Aliso Vieijo, CA, USA

“We were a group of 13 students and we were super glad to have Stuart as our guy during our visit to Skye. Stuart was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about Skye as he grew up on the island itself, so it was an extra bonus to hear stories from a true local.” Annie C from Glasgow, UK

Skye Highlights Tour Itinerary:

Portree

During the half hour stop in Skye’s ‘capital city’, the beautiful fishing port village of Portree, you can pick up something for lunch or simply browse some of the lovely tourist shops.

The Old Man of Storr & Kilt Rock viewpoints

Our Skye Tour stops for some incredible photo opportunities offering views of the Cuillin Hills, the west coast of the Scottish mainland, the Isle of Rona and the famous ‘Old Man of Storr’, also giving you time to enjoy the spectacular Kilt Rock viewpoint.

Staffin

Staffin lies at the foot of the Quiraing and has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its status as the best place in Great Britain for finding dinosaur footprints! We stop off here for a bathroom break before taking the mountain-pass road up the Quiraing itself.

Quiraing

The Quiraing is, for many people, the most captivating and stunning viewpoint on the island. Words cannot suitably describe the scene from the top viewpoint – so rather than try, we will simply leave you to discover it for yourself when you tour with us!

Fairy Glen

During the tour you will hear some of the Isle of Skye’s local stories, myths and legends of fairies (and monsters!), passed down from generation to generation. As you visit the Fairy Glen you will begin to realise why such stories abound amongst the islanders.

Fairy Bridge

Where did the ‘magical’ fairy flag really come from? Why is this quaint old humpback bridge of such interest to people? Hear the roots of the Fairy Bridge story whilst at the ancient bridge.

Dunvegan Castle

Surrounded by beautiful formal gardens and packed with historical artefacts, no trip to the Isle of Skye is complete without a visit to Dunvegan Castle. As well as housing the famous Fairy Flag the castle is still home to the current chief of the Macleod clan. (*Please Note: The admission fee to the castle is not included in the price of your tour. However you will be eligible for a discount as one of our passengers.)

Talisker Distillery

Another great place for a bathroom break, Talisker is the only single malt whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye. Our stop here allows time to explore the distillery visitor display and excellent shop before we make our way home.
